Spent lots of time on this. Found the issue to datepicker function not found and or not working in Chrome. Using VS2015... Just about everything is dependant on JQuery so it must be at the very top. Use the following references or latest:

<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.11.4/themes/smoothness/jquery-ui.min.css" />
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.11.4/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>
  • Paste at the top of each Environment section. Check the body as well. (I was missing the body)

I had this same problem. What I did to fix it was to add a reference to the scripts after the control.

<head>
  <link href="../Scripts/jquery-ui-1.11.1.custom/jquery-ui.css" rel="stylesheet" />
  <script src="../Scripts/jquery-2.1.1.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
  <div>
    <input type='text' onkeypress='return false' class='datepicker' />
  </div>

  <script src="../Scripts/jquery-ui-1.11.1.custom/external/jquery/jquery.js"></script>
    <script src="../Scripts/jquery-ui-1.11.1.custom/jquery-ui.js"></script>
  <script>
        $(this).ready(function () {
            $(".datepicker").datepicker();
        });
    </script>
</body>

I have ran into similar issues using hidden fields with jQUery. I have typically used a hack to hide the field to get jQuery to cooperate:

jQuery(function($){
    $('body').on('focus',"#Yourdatepicker", function(){

    $('#Yourdatepicker').datepicker();

});

$(document).ready(function () {
   $("#<%= txtData.ClientID %>").datepicker({
             showButtonPanel: true
   });
   $(".tablesorter").tablesorter();
});

You have to add 'ClientID' to your textbox id selector because TextBox is server control. Also remove any one version of jquery library.

jquery - datepicker undefined is not a function - Stack Overflow

There is a part in the page that copies the form where the element datepicker1 is included. Thus, there were multiple "datepicker1" being generated. The datepicker gets confused with the multiple datepicker1 and perhaps gets the value of the one with no value at all.

<?php $x++; ?>
<input type="text" id="datepicker<?=$x;?>" name="datepicker1"/>

If you have the same problem, you might just need to make sure that all your datepickers have unique id.

It looks to be the same problem as your linked question:

You need to return an array from the beforeShowDay callback.

I've updated the fiddle here with this:

$("#inlinedatepicker").datepicker({
        dateFormat: "yy-mm-dd",
        minDate: 0,
        beforeShowDay: function(date){
            console.log(date);
            return [true,""];
        }
});

and it logs all the dates without throwing the Uncaught TypeError.

You are missing return in beforeShowDay function. Try modifying beforeShowDay function as follows.

beforeShowDay: function(date){
console.log(date);
return [true, "test", "test"];
}

I had the exact same problem. After hours of frustration, figured out that it does not work because the clicked target is not where you would expect it to be (under '.datepicker').

Instead, the parent of the clicked <td> is a <tr> with NO parentNode, which makes determining if we are in the popup very hard - one could try searching the DOM to locate the element, but I don't even know if it would be present at all.

The solution used here was a check to see if

$(e.target).closest('body').length == 0

in which case the popup is left open

Bit late, but I removed the destroy function and got it working. Not exactly like your example, but this was gleamed from: JSFiddle

and removed the knoukout cleanup to get this solution:

ko.bindingHandlers.datepicker = {
            init: function(element, valueAccessor, allBindingsAccessor) {
                var $el = $(element);

                //initialize datepicker with some optional options
                var options = { minDate: 0
                        };
                $el.datepicker(options);

                //handle the field changing
                ko.utils.registerEventHandler(element, "change", function() {
                    var observable = valueAccessor();
                    observable($el.datepicker("getDate"));
                });

            },
            update: function(element, valueAccessor) {
                var value = ko.utils.unwrapObservable(valueAccessor()),
                    $el = $(element),
                    current = $el.datepicker("getDate");

                if (value - current !== 0) {
                    $el.datepicker("setDate", value);
                }
            }
        };

I think the problem is that jquery shouldn't be forced to destroy the datepicker, when i removed this, i can refresh the page without the

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'append' of undefined
