it was actually an easy thing to do but some time it go hard so i just delete the dropzone generated code using jquery and add a button with 'id = btnCreate' then

$('#btnCreate').click(function () {
        $('div.dz-success').remove();
   });

and when i upload the thumbnail image removed after i click the button

Sorry but this is a terrible solution. The other two answers using the provided removeFile() and removeAllFiles() methods are correct and will cause less headaches down the road. The internal file counter will not reset when doing this.

removeAllFiles() and removeFile() will trigger the server-side removal too, if you hooked Dropzone to remove files as well.

The solution to clear it only client-side, remove the file preview, and if you had a blank state message, remove the dz-started class to prevent the Dropzone CSS from hiding it:

$('.dropzone')[0].dropzone.files.forEach(function(file) {
  file.previewElement.remove();
});

$('.dropzone').removeClass('dz-started');

I'm sure most browsers respect the Last-Modified HTTP header. Send those out and request a new image. It will be cached by the browser if the Last-Modified line doesn't change.

When changing the image filename is not an option then use a server side session variable and a javascript window.location.reload() function. As follows:

Session("reload") = "yes"
If Session("reload") = "yes" Then
    Session("reload") = Nothing
    ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType), "ReloadImages", "window.location.reload();", True)
End If

This allows the client browser to refresh only once because the session variable is reset after one occurance.

Go to FTP folder of the website and rename the IMG folder to IMG2. Refresh your website and you will see the images will be missing. Then rename the folder IMG2 back to IMG and it's done, at least it worked for me in Safari.

This would only refresh the cache of those clients that have accessed the page when the image was moved and 404ed. The OP was likely looking for something that would cascade to all users regardless of timepoint.

That's not possible. Your best bet is to just entirely disable the caching of the resource in question. Create a filter which does the following job in the doFilter() method.

HttpServletResponse hsr = (HttpServletResponse) response;
hsr.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache,no-store,must-revalidate");
hsr.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
hsr.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
chain.doFilter(request, response);

and map it on an URL pattern covering the image(s) of interest.

Edit: if you actually don't care about the image being present in the browser cache, but your concrete problem is that different logged-in users basically use the same image URL because it's been served dynamically by some servlet, then you can also solve it by giving every unique user an unique image URL. You can do this by appending for example the user ID as request parameter to the image URL, or including it in the image's path.

<img src="profileimage?id=${user.id}" />
<img src="profileimage/${user.id}" />
